Immediately is a word we did not want to hear during my camp days. The only time immediately was used is if a child was missing. Particularly missing from the swim lake. If a child was missing, the call went out over the loud speaker across the camp ... Sally Saunders, 23, report to the lake immediately. At that moment, every single person stopped what they were doing and began to search for Sally. Are you Sally Saunders? Are you Sally Saunders? Counselors raced from cabin to cabin. When Trusting God Brings Crisis
Three young men stood before the king. These young men were leaders in his kingdom. They were well-respected, responsible, and had risen through the ranks. And now the king was furious with them. While everyone else had bowed down before his golden statue, these three stood. Trusting God brought crisis. The king questioned them. "Is it true you don't serve my gods or worship my statue? I'll give you another chance. You know the consequences if you disobey. Now bow down!" These men stood … [Read more...] about When Trusting God Brings Crisis

They participated in the workshop by listening to the Holding Esther episodes, discussing the learning objectives in small groups, and then engaging in large group dialogue. According to one of the orphanage directors, “The Holding … [Read more...] about How Can a Story Save a Life?
The Power of a Great Story
Go, Dog. Go! has got to be one of the most fabulous books EVER. What is not to love about dogs, and hats, and a DOG PARTY? Not only this but a great plot, great dialogue, and even a driving lesson. While I dreaded reading some of the books the kids chose, I loved it when they picked Go, Dog. Go! I would snuggle with the kids, read the text, voice the dialogue, and move my finger along with the words. Soon the kids would move their fingers along with the words. And before they were reading, … [Read more...] about The Power of a Great Story
