God doesn't always calm the storm

With Sandlooming, I'm checking for updates, checking on FB friends, and checking in on my daughters who are together in Central VA.

I'm also praying that even if God doesn't calm this storm, you will have a sense of his presence with you, calming you.

Some verses for you to hold on to:

I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

It is the LORD who goes before you.  He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.  Deuteronomy 31:8

For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you." Isaiah 41:13

Even if you're not in Sandy's path, storms loom on the horizon for each of us.  Storms are simply part of living in this fallen, broken world.  Jesus doesn't promise to calm the storm, but as the waves rise and the winds rage, he promises to never leave us or forsake us.  Emmanuel ... God with us.

If you're in the path of the storm, or have another storm brewing in your life, and would like me to be praying for you by name, leave a comment or email me at cynthiafin@gmail.com.
