Let God Whisper Truth

You never stop rooting your identity in Christ. This is the lesson I learned on Saturday night.I arrived in the Dominican Republic for a leadership conference with Trans World Radio.image

At dinner people began to share their stories and backgrounds around the table. As I listened, I found myself shrinking in my chair.

These people are doing AMAZING things.  Like delivering solar-powered MP3 players up and down the Amazon.  And building radio towers in Swaziland. And really helping refugees. So, as I drift off to sleep, I find myself thinking, "Who in the world am I? And what am I doing here?"

These folks speak 12 languages. I speak one.

They've traveled to 80 countries. I've traveled to three.

They know all about CRAZY technological things. And I needed help getting my computer plugged in to the socket that turned out to be just like an American socket, but without a spot for the third prong.  Good grief.

I went to bed listening to lies. But, in the morning God whispered truth. And I want to share it with you.Moses came down off the mountain a second time. This time the people seemed to behave while he was gone. And after he settled in for a few days, he offered them a giving challenge.

"This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord's contribution." Exodus 35:4-5

He stepped by and watched to see how they would respond.

They came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord's contribution ... Men and women, all who were of a willing heart ... as an offering to the Lord. Exodus 35:21-29

And now listen to this...

Then Moses said to the people of Israel, "See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel ... and he has filled him with the Spirt of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship."  Exodus 35:30-31.

Did you get that God called Bezalel by name?  He called him by name, filled him with the Spirit, and equipped him for his call. And God said to me. "Cindy, this was true for Bezalel, and it's true for you too.

I have called you by name.

I have filled me with my Spirit.

I have equipped you for my call."

And I'm thinking that you may need to hear this today too.  Root your identity in Christ. Stop listening to lies of inadequacy. Let God whisper truth.
