"I have come that you may have life ...
... and have it to the full."
These are the words of my best friend, my confidant, the one who knows me better than I know myself. These are the words of my Savior and my Lord.
When Jesus talks about life, he's talking about real life, eternal life, life that is in him, and through him, and for him. He's talking about life that is entwined with his. He's talking about the intimate life of complete and utter connection. Holy enmeshment.
He prayed this intertwining vine and branches relationship for me. And he defined life for me.
And this eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent. John 17:3
Knowing Jesus. Not just head-knowing, but heart, soul, mind, body knowing. This is life. This is what I'm going for.
And so, in the fullness of the day-to-day that is mine as I balance
- the relationships of life
- the responsibilities of life
- and the necessity for rest in this life
I'm settling deeper into life in the Vine. You haven't seen much activity here for a while and most likely, you won't ... not for a while.
