Noah's Ark!

This was the Sunday School lesson today for Katya's class at Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Odessa and she LOVED it! She was SO proud of the little construction paper ark she made. She did SO well sitting through a 2-hour Russian worship service with two sermons. Aquadoodle helped ...

Here's a pic from our apartment while we were getting ready for worship this morning.dsc_0111

Not a great shot, but the image tells a few stories:

1. Backpack - not pink skulls. I think I did okay with this one!
2. Princess Coloring Book - Katya LOVES princesses. She and Piper, who at one time aspired to grow up to be a princess, will be good buds over this affection.
3. Chicken - Okay, Katya has like 1000 animals. Every time she has stayed with us, she goes through a decision making time about what animal to bring. When we were here in August, she also picked out an animal to share with Piper. We've had really cute dogs and a cat named "Vasalisa" which I understand is a Russian Fairytale Princess. This time, the chicken came with us. So, the chicken goes out with us last night to City Pizza where Katya ordered shellfish pizza. Before the octopus-squid pizza arrived, Katya took a knife and preceded to pretend to cut up her beloved chicken and eat him. Hmmm...
4. The outfit - from Target and matches one that Piper has as well. Piper's planning to wear it to pick Katya up from the airport when we arrive home.
5. The socks - I brought clothes, but I didn't bring socks. Those are mine.
6. Photo Album - See the rust-colored floral photo album? That one I threw together two days before we left for Kiev. It has pictures of our trip in August and all the captions are in Russian, thanks to Gennady Denisenko, and is a gift for Tamara.

Tonight we joined the Americans from the EPCOA for a home church worship service. What a blessing to be with these folks! They have been such a haven for so many couples who are adopting in Odessa. They truly opened their hearts and their homes to us.

We also made a connection with Tasha, a dear Ukrainian woman who is preparing to move to the Rivne area to help Baptist churches connect with orphans. Think God's moving?
