Court Date TOMORROW!
This is Tamara, Katya's babushka. This is the woman who brought Katya home from the hospital after she was abandoned by her mother as a 1 kilo preemie. This is the woman who raised her for six years and then placed her in an orphanage so that Katya would have a hope of a better life. This is the woman, who although she dearly loves Katya, desires to see her adopted into a family. Although I've never met Tamara, she is one of my heroes.
Tomorrow Tamara will go with Liliya to court to declare again that she is choosing to refuse guardianship of Katya. Liliya will meet Tamara at 8:30 AM (1:30 AM EST) and they will travel to the court building together for Tamara's appearance at 9:00 AM (2:00 AM EST). If you want to read more about this paperwork glitch, check out these posts:
Tamara initially signs the papers refusing guardianship of Katya An administrative glitch results in the need for Tamara to go to court Tamara's story and a call to pray for this situation is issued Tamara submits a petition for a court date to correct the form Court date assigned - May 12 We're asking the Lord for a LONGSHOT and would love for you to join us in prayer. Typically there is a 10-day waiting period following the signing of a refusal of guardianship. But, because of the circumstances of the administrative glitch, Liliya and Tamara will be asking the judge to WAIVE the 10-DAY WAIT PERIOD. If the judge grants this request, this document could be delivered to the SDA in Kiev two weeks earlier and we would be that much sooner to knowing whether we can travel to Ukraine this summer to bring Katya home, or if we have to wait 14 months to adopt Katya. Two weeks may not seem like a long time, but for this mother's heart, two weeks seems an eternity. Would you join us in praying for a longshot?
