Friends, we would love some prayer.

Since my last post, we have faced one thing after another.  And for us, life's not usually like this.  Honestly, we trust that God's in it all, both allowing these things and teaching us to lean on him more heavily.  None of them are big in the scheme of things, but the sheer number of incidents and the financial ramifications are a bit much and I would love your prayers.
So, here's what's happened in the span of just over one week:
Car accident

A sweet, sweet couple allowed us to use their gold Ford Taurus this summer.  With Sara Maria and Adelyn driving back-and-forth to day camp this summer, an extra car has been a huge blessing.  So ... last Sunday I was heading to Camp Seafarer to pick up Grace to take her to Charlottesville for UVA orientation.  I was turning right at an intersection.  The lady in front of me accelerated to turn right on red.  I checked for traffic and then pressed the accelerator without making sure she had actually gone. You know what happened.  She didn't go.  And I rear-ended her.  I didn't just rear-end her, I totaled the borrowed gold Ford Taurus.

Trampoline

Grace and I adjusted our plans and she came to pick me up for orientation.  On the way home on Tuesday, storms dotted the NC map.  Bill called to check on us, but as we talked he said, "I've got to go."  In a few minutes he called me back.  The wind (a mini-tornado?)  picked up our trampoline, carried it over our chain link fence, skirted it past our magnolia, and slammed it into a gnarly pine.  The trampoline is beyond repair.

Windshield

So, today Sara Maria called me from the day camp.  "Mom, a soccer ball flew over the fence and hit our windshield.  It's not shattered, but it is cracked."  At that point I just had to laugh.  Out of all the cars in the parking lot, that soccer ball slammed into our 12-passenger van.  Thankfully, Bill had a similar reaction.

Spark Plug Cap

Bill just called.  He went out to the day camp to check out the windshield and to take Cameron to soccer practice.  As he drove away, he noticed the car beginning to shake.  Now this part is totally beyond me, so if it makes no sense, forgive me.  Apparently a spark plug cap has blown off, disintegrated, or something.  So the cylinders (???) are not firing in balance and this makes the car shake ... a lot.

I do have to brag on my husband.  He is handling this all with so much grace.  He did not get AT ALL frustrated with me about my fender-bender totaling incident.  This speaks VOLUMES to me.  And he has taken care of all the details - calling the insurance company, talking to the sweet, sweet couple who lent us the car, getting the car towed, and then going and cleaning it out before they take it to the car cemetery.  I cannot tell you what this means to me, although you can probably imagine.
So, I would love, love, love your prayers for us.  Tomorrow morning a very nice member of our church is going to meet us at our house at 7:45 so that we can get six of our children to the day camp.  The van will have to go in the shop, for what must be the fourth time in the past two months.  And then, somehow we are going to need to get all six children back home again at the end of the day.  Whew!  So, would you pray for us?  Thank you very much!

Do you have stuff going on in your life?  I'd love to pray for you too!  Email me at cynthiafin@gmail.com.  And, if you have any scripture, words of encouragement, or wisdom for us, send that too.  I'd love it!
