How a Botched Groupon Purchase Led to This ...

This, my friends, is a Sony Bloggie 1080p HD 8GB Digital Camera with a HD Video, and mine's coming in silver.

When we moved to Raleigh, I had to boo-hoo my way to finding a new gal to cut and highlight my hair.  And you ladies know, finding the right person can be kind of tough.  What I really wanted was...

  • a girl.  Plenty of women are totally fine with a guy cutting their hair.  But that's just kind of weird to me.
  • someone who listens to me and then offers suggestions.  She needs to be confident enough to say, "Cindy, I totally get what you're going for, but that's just not going to work for you.  Let me tell you what I think would be fabulous."
  • works for a fair price.  I really don't mind paying for a good cut and highlight.  But, I don't want to pay a zillion dollars either.
  • brilliance.  I really want a fabulous hair stylist who LOVES her job.
So, I got a few suggestions, and through the help of Groupon, made an appointment.  And, she was great.  But then, Groupon did me wrong.  Not really.  I just didn't read the fine print in the next coupon I purchased.  Only for new customers, was written at the very bottom in like a .5 font.  So, I paid top dollar for my next appointment but still sort of liked my cut and highlight.  But, I began to shop around a little.
And came across this picture.
Which is exactly what I want my hair to do.  This is Kate at The Small Things Blog.  She's a stylist in the Raleigh area and does these fabulous tutorials on how to do your hair.  And, how to get her this haircut.  I emailed Kate and while she is too booked to take on new clients, she did have a recommendation for me.  So, this Friday, I will go see a new gal.  We'll see how it goes.
Now, although Groupon was reluctant to do anything about the coupon I couldn't use, they finally were willing to give me Groupon credit.  I've been watching the Groupon offers, but when I saw this offer, it just called my name.
We have a fabulous camera.  Most of the time it's with Adelyn and it just is more complicated than I want to deal with.  I'm always asking Adelyn to take pictures and load them on to my computer.  I'm thinking that this will be perfect for tucking in my purse and being able to take shots on the go.  It also takes videos and get this ... while you're taking a video, you can still take regular pictures.  But here's what I really love about it.  It's designed for the purpose of loading your pictures onto your computer, hence the name Bloggie Digital Camera.
So, I'm kind of excited, both about my new gal and about my Bloggie Digital Camera.

(The day after I posted about this deal, I canceled my Groupon subscription.  You can read why right here.)

What about you?  What do you look for in a stylist?  Any Groupon deals that have been completely successful or an utter failure?  And, if the Bloggie Digital Camera falls into the latter category, break it to me gently.
