Home By Another Way

Prairie Corn Chowder is bubbling on the stove and the house is buzzing. My oldest three are on their way back from Virginia.  And, in less than an hour, or so, my mom and dear step-father, Phil, will pull in the driveway.  I have family coming home for Christmas.
But it wasn't too many years ago that I was the one going home for Christmas.  At Long to Love, I tell the story of a Christmas twenty-one years ago when I began to learn how to go "Home By Another Way."
Pulling into the driveway, I glanced at the handsome man behind the wheel. He smiled at me, and I smiled back, but my stomach flip-flopped and my heart pounded in my chest.  As the car rolled to a stop, the front door, wreathed in Christmas greenery, opened and out came my family.

“Bill, I’d like for you to meet my family.  Mom, Phil, I’d like for you to meet Bill.”

Head on over to Long to Love to read how my first Christmas home with Bill worked out and get some recommendations for how you can  go Home By Another Way. But, I'll warn you.  You're going to want linger for a while. Elizabeth is a beautiful writer AND has great craft ideas as well.

If you're visiting here from Long to Love, welcome!   And check back later and I'll post that recipe for Prairie Corn Chowder.  It's one of our favorites.
