I am in the Vienna Airport
... and have decided that this is a wonderful place for a layover.
Chocolate everywhere, Starbucks, Mozart musac, wi-fi, what more could a girl want? My coffee did cost $9.00, but, hey, it is the last Starbucks I'll get in a while.
Yesterday, as I was mourning leaving Bill and the children and just longing to stop hurtling back and forth across the ocean and have everyone under the same roof, a young mom friend of mine said to me as she juggled the baby and kept her eyes on her other two little ones, "So, you have to be a little excited - 8 hours of peace and quiet, time to read..."
Honestly, I hadn't even thought about that. I have been soaking in the six and grieving doing this last trip without my husband in the midst of a desperate longing to grab Miss Kateryna up in my arms and take her back home where she belongs.
However, I COMPLETELY remember those days of little ones hovering all around - just wanting to be able to go to the bathroom by myself, knowing I'd never conquer the laundry mound, hoping I'd have enough energy to be a wife when Bill came home - at that point, I wouldn't have cared about the purpose, the destination, anything. Eight hours on a plane, regardless of the circumstances, would have seemed like heaven.
So, for all you sweet young mom friends of mine, I'll enjoy the anonymity of the airport, nobody pulling on me, the hours of reading, the Mozart mu-sac, and my $9.00 coffee. And you, draw your sweet ones into your lap and snuggle for a bit, and i pray for me, and for Katya that the Lord will prepare her heart to become a daughter.
