Good news!!!
According to Liliya, everything went fine with court and she will pick up the documents in 10 days! Thank you for your prayers!!!
What's next? It's still a bit fuzzy to me, but from the best of my understanding, here are the likely possibilities. Sometime between July 10th and July 14th, Liliya will pick up the documents from the court house. Then they have to be signed by another governmental office (perhaps notarized? I don't know.) Then Dima takes them to the SDA in Kiev. The folks in the SDA will decide whether Katya's "pure orphan" status will take effect from the date that these documents arrive with them OR if they will see that Tamara actually did file these papers back in March 2008 and will consider her status to have been in place since then. IF they consider Katya to be a pure orphan from March 2008, Dima will submit our dossier right away and then the SDA will have a couple of weeks in which to give us an invitation to come to Ukraine. This is what we're hoping for. BUT, they could consider the date in which Dima submits these papers to be her registration as a "pure orphan." If this is the case, then we wait 14 months before we will receive an invitation. Ugh.
Although we are rejoicing that a barrier is cleared for Katya to come home, my heart is burdened for Tamara. I can't imagine how hard this is for her.
Liliya just gave us the bare information about court this morning. Once I know more details, I'll post. Again, thank you SO MUCH for being alongside us!!!
